VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help with bracken control on Dartmoor. During the summer months many archaeological features of the moor disappear under large swathes of bracken. The bracken control programme, now in its fourth year, targets individual sites using manual methods to bruise the stems of the plant and weaken its regrowth. The 2007 programme starts on Monday, June 18 on Corndon Down, grid reference SX687759, with further dates at a variety of sites. Volunteers are welcome to join the activity, which will start at 10am and finish by 4pm. Stout boots and a packed lunch are advised.
