Okehampton 4
ISCA D 0
OKEHAMPTON knew that their first game on their new pitch was not going to be easy as they hosted a team fourth in the league.
The home side started poorly and for the first 10 minutes really struggled to maintain any kind of possession at all, eventually though they started to get more into the contest and started to create a few chances.
Chris Luxton almost rounded the keeper before Josh Speak found Mark Parsons, who smashed the ball past the keeper into the net.
Always looking threatening the Exeter side were only denied by an excellent reflex save by Andy Harvey and some great tackling from the back three defenders. Okehampton doubled their lead just before half time when the man of the match Joff Stephens flicked the ball beyond the helpless goalkeeper to give the host a nice lead at half time.
Knowing that ISCA were going to come back at them hard Okehampton took the game to the visitors and after some good play they won a short corner which Parsons converted to make the scoreline more comfortable.
Parsons then fired in the fourth after an excellent through ball by Simon Bourne and Okehampton were able to play out the last ten minutes or so without too much more concern.
The win gives Okehampton five out of five before their trip to Dawlish this saturday.
Minehead B 2
Okehampton Mens Hockey A 2
IT was the North Devon side who started the brighter, however they were unable to score after some good defending from the Okehampton back line.
Minehead were made to pay for missing their chances and the visitors soon found their stride when Jake Lloyd got the opening goal from a short corner for Okehampton.
With confidence high, the away team looked for a second and did so after 15 minutes after Jake Lloyd passed a through ball to Chris Searle; this left Searle on a one on one with the Minehead keeper and he dribbled the ball around him to put the ball into an empty net.
Looking in control of the match, Okehampton went on the attack for a third but were caught on the break and were pegged back to 2-1.
The second half started with both teams having chances but unable to convert.
Minehead scored their second after a sustained level of pressure - this time from a short corner.
Despite losing their two goal lead, Okehampton didn't give up and both teams went on the attack looking to take the lead but both teams defenses remained strong and the game ended 2-2.
