BURRATOR Reservoir was the scene of a fantastic fundraising endeavour this month as two Horrabridge youngsters took to their trainers to raise some cash.
When friends Max Scragg, aged eleven, and ten-year-old Tom Bailey discovered that another friend?s uncle was suffering from lymphoblastic leukaemia they decided to do something to help.
The two boys decided to do a sponsored run around Burrator Reservoir, for which they designed their own sponsor forms, and spent the afternoon gleaning support from friends and relatives in the village.
By the end of the day they had raised £80 for Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Research.
At eight the following morning three intrepid souls were heading for Burrator Reservoir, the two boys decked out with painted faces and shirts bearing the number 118 to mirror the directory enquiries advert, and Max?s mother, Mrs Scragg who acted as chaperone.
All three completed the run in a magnificent 38 minutes ? and the two boys looked almost ready to go round again!
Mrs Scragg said: ?It was a lovely idea and the parents are really proud of both of them.?
