YELVERTON Bowling Club has got the new season away to a flying start. Fifteen attended the new members? day and received coaching from the club?s qualified coaches. The Ladies? team led by the new captain June Brain won their first league match against Ivybridge (49-23) while the newly promoted men, under the leadership of new captain Jos Jones, won their first league match against Stuart Road (74-47). Yelverton won on four rinks skipped by Henry Towl, Richard Button, Mike Brain and Jos Jones. The first club night in May attracted a record number of players, many of whom are new members which bodes well for the rest of the season.
