THE men of Okehampton Simmons Bowling Club have made a promising start to their League and County Trophy matches this season. While the shield A squad have also made a good start in their efforts to retain the shield won last season, the B squad are finding the going hard, only managing to pick up points for rink wins but not getting the points for the overall win. In the over 60s the A team holds top position in Division 3 with B team in second place in division 4. The C team are having a tough fight in division 6 and at present in 10th place. The ladies, who are struggling to put out a settled team, are finding any points hard to come by in their shield competition. Results of the mixed friendlies show that of the 5 played (up to June 4) 4 have been won. Results up to June 4: League played 7 won 3 drew 1 lost 2; Shield A played 7 won 5 lost 2; Shield B played 6 won 0 lost 6; Over 60s A played 6 won 3 lost 3; Over 60s B played 4 won 4; Over 60s C played 4 drew 1 lost 3.
