Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3
Lamerton 0
St Stephen's Borough 1
WINDY conditions made life difficult for both teams but a good competitive match resulted.
Lamerton had the better of things early on and created four reasonable chances in the first quarter of an hour.
Dan O'Hare shot over from inside the box, Paul Cowling headed at the keeper from close range and Graham Cole and Cowling had one on ones with the Borough keeper, only to be denied.
They were made to pay for those misses as St Stephen's came into the game and scored what turned out to be the match winner after half an hour. Lee Manuel sprung the offside trap and just beat Pete Daniel to the ball before scoring.
The second half saw Borough play some intelligent football as they had the better of possession and knocked the ball around well. They were always dangerous with Phil Screech leading the line well and Andy Wright making good use of the ball.
Lamerton had a couple of half chances in the second half with Paul Breyley and Dan Healy working tirelessly in midfield and Ian Collacott pressing forward from right back.
Both sides appreciated the performance of referee Dave Green who let the game flow but stepped in firmly when necessary.
This Saturday away in the league versus Torpoint, 2.30pm kick-off.
