OKEHAMPTON and District's Duke of Edinburgh Award has received support from Waitrose's Community Matters scheme.
The organisation has been given £420 raised through the Okehampton store's green token scheme. The money has been put towards a new Vango Omega XL Base Camp Tent and three emergency shelters.
Okehampton and District Duke of Edinburgh Awards chair Chris Bourne said: 'We really appreciate the help and assistance that the people of Okehampton and district give to the award here in the heart of rural Devon, without your support for the volunteers and to buy specific equipment that is required, many would not be able to undertake the three levels of the award — bronze, silver and gold.'
