BOOK lovers of Okehampton have a bumper month in store during March, as Okehampton Library has a packed line-up of activities.

Avid readers can test their literary knowledge with the library's free World Book Day quiz. Copies are available now in the library, to be handed in by March 7.

Activities kick off on Saturday, March 9 with a mega book and DVD sale and coffee morning from 9.30am to noon. Lots of withdrawn library stock will be on sale, including adult fiction, non-fiction, children's books and DVDs. After browsing the sale, visitors can enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee served by the Friends of Okehampton Library Group.

Children can create their own character for a book in the library's World Book Day character competition. Youngsters can design and describe their character on the library entry form, and illustrator Woody Fox will pick a winner. On March 16 from 10.30am to noon Woody will be in the library to draw the winning character.

The Friends have organised a spring draw, with entrants getting the chance to win a selection of chocolate prizes. Tickets available from the library cost 50p each with all proceeds going to the Friends of Okehampton Library to help pay for future events. The draw takes on March 30.

The author of four series of murder mystery books will be at the library on Monday, March 18 to discuss her work.
