EASTER proved a trading boon in Tavistock Pannier Market, members of the town council's properties committee last week heard.
Easter Saturday, when the annual Easter Bonnet competition was staged, was particularly busy.
Cllr Julia Whitcomb told the committee: 'It was a really, really good competition, a lot of traders went in for it.'
Town mayor Cllr Anne Johnson, who judged the competition, said: 'There was a really nice atmosphere in the market — lots of people had worked very hard on their bonnets.'
Cllr Ted Sherrell congratulated the market for a successful day — and Cllr Johnson on her role as bonnet judge.
'Other than a baby show, I can't imagine any duty more fraught,' he said.
