ULTRA distance runner Bob Brown from Callington, Cornwall along with his small support team have past the half way mark in his latest endurance run. On August 30 Bob reached Belgium having crossed France in a staggering 16 days. He has now run over 1500 miles. Bob has been forced into a change of routes ? before the run began, Bob was in two minds as to whether to run to the romantic border pf Europe in the Ural Mountains or to finish at the Russian border, which is most people?s idea as to where Europe ends. Having recieved the news that insuring the support vehicles (without which he cannot run) for Russia would not be possible, Bob and his crew have decided to take up the challenge of breaking the record for running across the European Union and finishing at the Russian border. Bob hopes to complete the 3,000-mile solo run in a record breaking 56 days. Bob has struggled at times during this run but now has the finish line firmly in his sights: ?Despite this being physically and mentally tougher than both the runs across Australia and America, I am determined to finish this run in a record breaking time upon arrival at the Russian border. ?The logistical difficulties of this run are like non-other that I have ever experienced and will just add to the sense of achievement at the end.? At the end of day 27 Bob collapsed with fatigue and has experienced massive weight loss, dropping from 10.8 stone to below 9 stone. His worrying ankle injury is holding up under the immense pressure of 55 miles a day and spirit within the Ginsters sponsored camp is as high as ever. Bob Brown is sponsored by Ginsters and is raising money for the charity CHICKS.
