THE annual Turkey Trot stableford took place at Hurdwick Golf Club in uncertain weather conditions on Saturday December 16.
The ladies' entries were well down, with a number dropping out at the last moment. The men's competition, however, was well supported and keen in what proved to be typical blustery, awkward autumn conditions.
The men's division one winner was Dave Murkin with 37 points, followed by Kevin Pugh with 34 points and Chris Dicker matching Jim Wood with 33 points, but taking third position on the back 9.
The division two winner was again decided on the back 9 with Tim Gale inching ahead of Peter Brookbank, both with 35 points.
Third and fourth position went the same way, when Neil Tamblin and Mike Gill tied on 31 points.
The two ladies' prizes went to Sue Wilson, who was the clear winner with an excellent total of 33 points, followed by Shirley Portis with a creditable 29 points.
The competition was followed by the popular Christmas draw with the usual host of prizes.
The next event at Hurdwick is the New Years' Day medal, a timely opportunity for a little exercise after the festive feasting.
