Okehampton Ladies 3

Exeter University 1

THIS match was competitive from the off with both teams attacking and defending well. Okehampton had no subs again. They would have been down to ten if Jessica Burdus had not been visiting from university.

Exeter were fortunate to score in the first ten minutes, but Okehampton rose to the occasion and got one back before half-time, Naomi Wilkins finding the back of the net with a lovely long-range goal.

Okehampton continued to attack in the second half but many chances were saved or put wide. They stuck with it and when a goalmouth scramble resulted in a coolly taken tap-in from Clare Tyson, Okehampton took the lead.

Exeter University continued to attack, but good work from defence and Ceri Chapman, making her first appearance in goal, kept them at bay.

Okehampton attacked from all angles and Exeter did well to keep the score down until Wilkins was taken out in the box and a penalty was given. Sarah Blowey put it away and Okehampton secured their fourth victory of the season.

Player of the match: Sam Burdus.
