YEOFORD visited Belstone?s Rew Meadow for a Buckley Cup evening match.

With the ball coming slowly off the pitch, both sides found scoring difficult with only five boundaries and two sixes hit in the whole game.

Belstone?s top order struggled as Paul Leach took four of the first five wickets to fall as the total reached 29 off eight overs.

A slight recovery followed as Belstone just used up their 20 overs with the last pair together, Rob Hall hitting a straight six as 11 runs came off the last over.

By the time Yeoford reached 45 for five at the end of the 13th over the game was swinging in Belstone?s favour, thanks to accurate bowling from Rob Hall (4-0-7-30 and Pete Gross (4-2-5-1).

However, Paul Coren and Phil Dennis had other ideas and their well-judged partnership carried Yeoford to 70 for five at the end of the penultimate over, leaving seven runs required.

Proceedings finished in style when Dennis lifted George Hall?s fourth ball over the long-on boundary for six to give Yeoford a five wicket win.

Belstone?s dismal week continued on Sunday when they travelled to Exeter University?s ground to take on Pinhoe in a division 1 South Devon League game.

Put in to bat they had little answer to the accurate pace attack of all four Pinhoe bowlers, especially Andy Elliott (9-2-24-4) and Tom Fildew (7.3-3-25-3), who ripped through the innings to such an extent that Belstone were all out in the 28th over, with only five boundaries from Rob Sandercock (22) to lift the spirits.

To add to the visiting team?s woes opener Pete Gross had to retire for most of the innings with a twisted knee and last man Luke Wonnacott damaged a thumb.

Belstone were sharper in the field than of late and reduced Pinhoe to 36 for three after 11 overs thanks to a hostile spell of three for 21 from Aidan Easterbrook.

Opener Colin Drew, dropped before he had scored, then dominated proceedings with 10 fours and 2 sixes as he finished with 63 runs out of Pinhoe?s winning total of 81.

Two friendlies for Belstone this weekend, against Paignton on Saturday and Tavistock on Sunday, both away.
