POLICE are investigating a spate of suspected arson attacks on the recycling banks in Market Street, Okehampton. Okehampton firefighters were called out on three separate occasions over the Bank Holiday weekend ? twice to deal with fires in the clothes bank and then at 5.30am on Sunday when they had to use a hosereel and breathing apparatus to extinguish a blaze within the large paper bank. Station officer Ian Donovan said: ?It is a very time consuming and needless exercise for the fire service.? He urged anyone who had any information about the incidents to contact the police on 08452 777444.
