WITH reference to Helen Dobby's letter last week regarding the overflowing dog poo bin. She reassured the person who wrote in the previous week complaining that this major problem had been resolved.
Only last Thursday I had cause to report the same overflowing dog poo bin. As no action was taken I had to report it again the following day, before it and the one on the opposite side of the river walk was finally emptied.
I appreciate that there may have been a problem with the contractor, but why does it have to take so long to take action and resolve the problem.
Is the same contractor responsible for emptying the waste bins along Crowndale cycle path and opposite the cemetery? Because once again these are overflowing.
Would it not be advisable to employ a more reliable contractor to carry out the work?
Overflowing dog poo bins are not only disgusting, unsightly but also are a high health risk.
Myself and others plus the numerous visitors to our town do not want to be subjected to seeing these dreadful sights while strolling along the river walk.
It is not exactly sending out a very good message for the town.

I WAS less than reassured to read the letter from Helen Dobby, Head of Environment Services for West Devon in the Times, which stated that 'these problems have now been resolved'.
I reported the overflowing dog waste bin next to the canal footbridge at Monksmead last Wednesday and the mess was cleared up the next day, but these bins should never get into this state.
If more dog owners are doing the right thing and using the bins instead of leaving the mess on the ground, the bins have to emptied more frequently. It will cost more money, but surely this is an absolutely essential service.
