BERE Ferrers is being encouraged to become Bin Ferrers and Butt Ferrers tomorrow.
South West Water has teamed up with Bere Ferrers Parish Council to encourage residents to save water and help their gardens. Water butts and compost bins will be on sale at £12 each in the parish car park from 10 o'clock as part of a series of events to promote home composting and water conservation.
A spokesman for the event said householders can do a lot to help the environment. 'A hose can use 122 buckets of water an hour, and composting kitchen and garden waste can reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill sites by almost a third,' he said.
The bin and butt sale will go on until 4 pm, and TV gardening expert Terry Underhill will be on hand to answer gardening questions.
A similar sale will be held on Friday next week in Bedford Square, Tavistock, and the following week at the Leg o' Mutton car park in Yelverton in conjunction with Buckland Monachorum Parish Council.
