IT'S official — star of the 60s and 70s Roy Wood still has the ability to make a place rock and the almost 300 people who attended his latest gig at Okehampton Sports Hall will vouch for that!
The megastar of this year's Okehampton Arts and Music Festival brought the house down with classic hits like 'See My Baby Jive', 'Angel Fingers' and 'Blackberry Way'.
Dressed in his flamboyant trademark style, the frontman of bands the Move and Wizzard certainly lived up to his reputation with a presence exceeding many of today's pop stars.
The big band support with its fantastic brass section added plenty of variety, Roy Adams performed a brilliant drum solo and the Naylor Sisters provided background vocals.
At one point Brummie Roy returned on stage with a set of flashing black bagpipes, and, despite the time of year, he ended his set with the fabulously popular 'I Wish it Could Be Christmas Everyday'.
Roy managed to get everyone on their feet and joining in singing and dancing. Some of the audience had come from as far as Tiverton and Exmouth.
The consensus of the event was: 'If you missed it, you missed a treat.'
