THE second race in the Biathlon Series being held at Kelly College took place recently.
After having glorious weather for the first race, this race took place in wet and windy conditions, but nonetheless more people competed and some good swimming and running was enjoyed by the brave and enthusiastic supporters.
In the girls 10 years and under Jessica Goss was 1st with Hannah Ball 2nd. The boys 10 years and under was won by Joe Crick with Jake Rendle 2nd and Peter Meachin 3rd.
Carla Haines, though leaving the water in 3rd place in the girls 10/11 years age group ended up as overall winner followed by Amy Bayliss 2nd closely followed by 3rd placed Holly Yeo.
The boys winner in the 10/11 years was Oliver Ramsden who came out of the water 5th. Tom Worth was 2nd out of the water and 2nd overall and equal third, was first out of the water, Matthew Langman and Guy Wilkins who was 3rd out of the water.
Caroline Ball confirmed her win of last time by placing 1st in the 12/13years age group again, with Hattie Hayes 2nd and Melissa Taylor 3rd. The boys 12/13 years age group was won for the second time by Alexander Richards, with 2nd Matthew Henry, who was first out of the water. 3rd was Seb Richards, who had come out of the water in 6th place.
Katie Haines won the girls 14/15 years age group with Beth Campbell-Boseley 2nd and Hayley Smith 3rd. Sebastian Lee was overall winner in the boys 14/15 age group.
Matthew Lake took first place in the boys16/17 year age group as did Ray Haines in the Mens 50/54 year age group.
The Mens 40/44 year age group saw local man Richard Drage put in a superb run to take 1st place with Joe Kerrigan 2nd and Paul Chinn, coach of Tavistock Swimming Club, 3rd.
In the Open event for women Samantha Gardener was 1st with Stephanie Worth 2nd. In the men's event Robin Brew secured his second win of the series followed by Mark Blackford 2nd and James Lake 3rd.
