CONSERVATIVE B left it until their last game of the season to notch up their first win of the season, but did it in fine style with a 5-0 thrashing of Con D. Loffey put them in front after a tight black ball game against a much improved Palmer. Another tight game saw Kellaway just managing to overcome the 'never say die' grit of veteran May. Crouch disposed of Holmes but not before Holmes posted his highest of the season (17). Mark Evans was a comfortable winner, 51-19, against Wilkinson.
The final frame and the icing saw Con B's Nolan Dolan edge out a tenacious Hoare in a 'safety first' encounter.
Royal British Legion A had the best of starts at West Devon A when Grylls beat WD's Hurford in a black ball finish to put Legion one up. Hawke restored parity for WD with a win over Woods in a scrappy frame. Stewart and Heathman's game went down to the yellow but a missed opportunity for Stewart allowed Heathman back in and nick it on the black for WD.
Frame of the night was the encounter between RBL's Ryall, unbeaten for most of the season, against WD's Kevin Rich who is still to lose a frame. Early sparring took place with both players taking a cautious approach. When the chance came Rich grabbed it with both hands with a superb 43 break, which all but sealed the game.
Emptage made it 4-1 for West Devon in the final frame to beat Wickett. This win, secured second spot for WD.
