Bere Alston 7 St Merryn 1 IT has been a year since Bere Alston lost a home game in all competitions and they did not look like losing that record as they tore into the visitors in a devastating first half. The home side put the visitors on the back foot from the first whistle. After some early chances Steve Daymond cut in from the right and rifled his left footed shot into the top right corner. The second was soon to come involving some good patient build up play. Daymond?s cross from the left was met by the head of Truscott who from twelve yards made no mistake. St Merryn worked hard and tried to close down their markers at every opportunity. The slick quick passing of the home side was too much as Bere soon made it three. Wheeler, Westlake and Hallett combined to set up Ross Hann who calmly beat the keeper from fourteen yards. The home side wrapped up a fine first half performance with a great solo goal through Ross Hann. Within minutes of the restart it was five. Adam Reid put Hann through and with only the keeper to beat to secure a fine hattrick. Wheeler?s fine individual goal made it six as he volleyed on from fifteen yards. With five minutes left St Merryn were awarded a penalty, Alan slotted a ball past Howells but there was still time for the home side to score again. Daymond?s fine solo run beat two defenders and shot low into the bottom corner. Saturday away to St Merryn with kick off at 2.30pm.
