Devon Senior Cup Bere Alston 3 Clipper Rangers 2 LAST season?s finalists Bere Alston showed fine style against a strong Plymouth side that boasted an unbeaten start to the season. Bere opened brightly and in the first couple of minutes Ross Hann and Steve Daymond brought out two great saves from the visitors? keeper. In the tenth minute, Daymond?s corner was headed home by Darren Woolley from ten yards to give the home side the lead and his first goal for the club. Midway through the half Rangers got themselves back in the game with a well taken strike from Wayne Crow, his dipping 20-yard shot finding the back of the net. With confidence flowing the away side took the lead two minutes later, from the penalty spot through Crow. The second period was all Bere Alston as they carved open the Rangers? defence at regular intervals and midway through the half were on level terms when Hann?s cross was headed home by top goalscorer Chris Truscott. Bere should have wrapped up the tie in normal time but were thwarted by excellent goalkeeping. In extra time fitness started to tell again. Bere came out the stronger side with the visitors looking leg weary. Daymond?s fine run saw him beat one defender before rounding the keeper and from a tight angle slotting into an empty net to wrap up this pulsating cup tie. This Saturday, back in league action away to Lamerton. Kick-off 2.30 pm.
