Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3

Mary Tavy 2

Bodmin Town 1

THIS cracking match saw both teams produce a game which was a joy to watch.

Mary Tavy, again at full strength, looked composed and dangerous throughout and took the lead from a close range effort from Alan Grylls after a super build up involving captain Nick John, Ben Stephens and Sam Pridham whose cross from the left produced the goal.

Tavy were good for their lead but Bodmin were hot on their tails and from close range saw Hoare beat Simon Dundrow- Smith for the first time in three games to pull it all square.

The second half saw even more

|incidents as Bodmin struck the post and Dan Brockington saw his ferocious volley cannon off the crossbar.

A penalty was the ultimate deciding factor as Tavy pushed to regain the upper hand and of all people, Ben Stephens, the youngest in the Tavy side, shrugged off all the pressure laid on him calmly to send the keeper the wrong way.

With minutes remaining, Tavy were thwarted another spot-kick as their forward through on goal was hauled back by the neck of his shirt , but the referee was unsighted.

At what was thought to be the final whistle, players started to leave the pitch only to be ushered back to play out the final few moments of an event- filled match.
