TAVISTOCK College is partnering with Devon and Adult Community Learning to offer French lessons to local people.

As a specialist language college, Tavistock College will host the ten-week beginners' course each Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm at a cost of just £50 – working out at £5 per session.

Head of language specialism Anna Mills said: 'We are delighted to have begun what we hope will be the start of a long and fruitful relationship with Devon and Adult Community Learning (DACL).

'The course will be run and administered by DACL but will take place at Tavistock College as our language facilities are among the best in the county.'

Tavistock College plans to host a range of beginner language courses using its teachers and DALC's tutors. Those who wish to continue their studies at an intermediate or advanced level will be able to do so at the town's Alexander Centre.

Tavistock College offers its students lessons in French, Spanish, German, Italian and is the only school in Devon to teach Japanese at GCSE and A level.

The beginners' French course will run from September 21 to November 30, excluding October 26. To enrol call 0845 155 1014, or for more information visit http://www.devon.gov.uk/adultlearning">www.devon.gov.uk/adultlearning
