ST CLEER took the lead midway through the first half. Within two minutes the home side had equalised, thanks to a well taken Matt Avery goal after good approach pay by Stuart Wakenshaw. Shortly after Gunnislake?s Dean Martin turned and shot well only for his effort to shave the cross bar.
For most of the second half it looked as though each side would take a point from this encounter, the match being well contested with evenly balanced opponents cancelling one another out.
But with less than ten minutes to play the visitors scored a winner with a deflected shot through a crowded penalty area after a free kick had been partially cleared.

TWO days on from their opening day defeat Gunnislake were again beaten. An even first half saw the sides go in to the turnaround level at one goal each. Stuart Wakenshaw?s penalty cancelled out Polperro?s opener.
Three minutes in to the second half it was as though the home side were still in the changing rooms as Polperro twice struck.
This set the tone for a poor performance by Gunnislake who were well beaten by a solid and more determined side. By the time Andy Wakem scored late on when he converted a Steve Cribb centre the visitors had established a deserved 5-1 lead.
This Saturday Gunnislake have their first away fixture of this campaign when they visit St Stephen for a 2.30pm kick off.
