YEAR 4 pupils at Okehampton Primary School spent two days last week working with an artist from children's comic 'The Beano'.
Children made their own comics and brought in their Beano comics to be signed by illustrator Kev F.
The visit, which was a great success, was all part of livening up the curriculum and improving children's writing skills, said headteacher Hazel Fox.
It follows a curriculum review and a questionnaire to the community, asking for suggestions on what parents would like their children to get out of school.
'We are taking on board suggestions like children should know how to use a washing machine and have real life experiences. It's almost like a list of 20 things to do before you leave Okehampton primary and getting the artist in was part of that.
