OKEHAMPTON has been chosen to host one of the ?Beacon Suppers?, a national event held as part of the Alpha Course, an initiative giving a practical introduction to Christianity.
Okehampton?s Beacon Supper is to be held on Wednesday, September 22, in the Charter Hall, Okehampton.
Invitations and placements for the forthcoming Alpha Course, which begins the following week, will be available at the supper.
Alpha Course adviser the Rev Chris Bourne has just completed two programmes of two sessions each of training for Alpha ? based entirely on the material available from Holy Trinity Brompton (Church of England), the home of the international course.
Saturday, July 17, saw a day dedicated to dynamic prayer which was held in Fairplace Church, Okehampton, and attended by people from all over the region.
Local churches involved in running Alpha are invited to be involved with those in the Mid-Devon area and to support the event.
Alpha is an opportunity for people to discover the meaning of life; to explore their perceptions of Christianity; whether they believe it to be boring, irrelevant or untrue.
The next course in Okehampton will start on September 29. For more details about the course or supper tickets contact Mr Bourne on 01837 53797.
