FORGED Scottish £50 notes have been passed in the Yelverton area ? police are urging proprietors and their staff to be wary of accepting high value notes. A police spokesperson said it was believed a group of travelling criminals was currently operating in the force area passing the forged notes. Members of the group normally purchase small value items such as sandwiches and pay with the notes. If anyone is offered Scottish £50 notes, they are asked to call the police, using 999 if the person offering it is still on the scene. The crime reference number is JT/06/1066.
