PUPILS at Horrabridge School will be putting themselves in the shade when they join the Guide Dogs for the Blind's annual Shades for a Day campaign next week.

The children will be able to make a donation to don their sunglasses and look cool in school on Thursday, July 18.

The money raised will be divided between The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and the participating schools.

More than half a million people across the UK will be making a suggested donation of £1 to wear shades for a day.

Geraldine Peacock, chief executive of Guide Dogs, explains: 'Shades for a Day is a fun way of reminding everyone to look after their eyes, be 'cool' and raise money for Guide Dogs and school funds.'

Guide Dogs aim to raise awareness of eye health, by urging everyone to protect their eyes with safe sunglasses.

Special miniature shade-shaped pin badges will be available from many opticians, as well as branches of Dorothy Perkins and Burton.
