TAVISTOCK Pannier Market came in for praise at a meeting in the town last week.
The market has been awarded a certificate of excellence from Trip Advisor for businesses.
The certificate is awarded to businesses that rank in the top 10% worldwide for traveller feedback.
One reviewer said: 'So many stalls to choose from and all under a roof, so despite the rain, we could still enjoy our visit to Tavistock.
'The tables were overflowing with antiques, books, crafts, even tools, so the boyfriend was happy.
'The stall vendors were all really friendly and happy to chat about their items, and even to give tips about the hot collectables of the moment. Well worth a visit and the opening times are generous.'
Another said: 'Different to many markets with some really quirky stalls; a really very pleasant experience and a must visit in Tavistock.'
Duty market manager Duane Carruthers in his report to the town council's properties committee said: 'We will incorporate Trip Advisor more in our online media advertising to help keep up this excellent free endorsement.
'With Trip Advisor, 75% of surveyed travellers say they're more likely to use a business with a visible Trip Advisor endorsement.'
Cllr Anne Johnson said the pannier market staff and traders should be congratulated on such an achievement.
'There were some really positive comments. The more publicity we can get of this type, the better.
'The market is a quality experience and we really should be shouting that from the town hall roof,' added Cllr Johnson.
