A 'SLEEPOUT' at Princetown last weekend was this week proclaimed a huge success — raising enough money for four ShelterBoxes, instead of the hoped-for single box.
Despite suffering rain, hail, snow, frost, fog — and even a bit of sun — spirits were great among those camping out for charity on the village green.
Ages ranges from five to 75 — even PC Dave Pickles and PCSO Mark Canvin joined in, to show support and build community links.
The event was organised by High Moorland WI and friends, who included the Prince of Wales pub, the Old Police Station and Lord's cafés, Foxtor Café, the Plume of Feathers, Duchy Square Centre for Creativity, the DNPA Visitor Centre, Princetown Stores, Princetown Smithy. Princetown Fire and Rescue, Rocky Flint and many others.
A huge thanks was extended to everyone who donated cash, food, drinks and tents — in particular Mr and Mrs Redler who donated an incredible £500 cheque.
Last but not least, thanks go to 'Le Streak', who braved the cold and entertained campers, clad in little but his tattoos, in return for a donation to Help for Heroes from his friends at the Plume!
