Tamar League ORDULPH put Calstock in to bat knowing that with a weaker batting order than the norm, their bowlers needed to do a tight job to keep the run chase down. The bowling attack rose well to the challenge with Folley (23 off 12 overs) up the hill keeping the lid on things nicely, and initially Mills doing his bit down the hill. With the introduction of Mansfield wickets also started to fall, breaking the opening partnership of 45 from Pomeroy and Maclane (23) in the process. From this point on Mansfield?s accurate line and length was reaping rewards with wickets at regular intervals, supported well by Folley bowling a very economical spell of 12 overs right through. Lethbridge now joined in the attack with an immediate impact taking a wicket in the first over. Good catches in the field from Hodges and Mills were also assisting the bowlers. A late flurry of runs from Lusher (16) and Davies (13) helped Calstock to a total of 118, this was probably 20 or so more than Ordulph had hoped for. Mansfield ended up with impressive figures of 5 for 25 and Lethbridge with a nice show of 4 for 36. What followed from the Ordulph was a let down to their bowlers with an indisciplined display of batting with ill judged shots in abundance. Calstock?s Lusher took full advantage of this creaming five wickets in his impressive 12 over spell. Only Lethbridge (15 not out) managed to do the right thing and hang around, with all around him throwing their wickets away. The other Calstock bowlers of Pomeroy and Chalk also chipped in with 2 wickets each. Collapsing to 87 all out the Ordulph will want to quickly forget this one. Calstock 1st XI won by 31 runs.
