Chagford v
Plymstock
PLYMSTOCK batting first, made slow progress against the accurate Chagford attack.
The visitors lost their first wicket at 17 to the pace of Andy Astley, and free scoring Australian Janes went first ball to Lammonby to leave Plymstock at 26-2. However Richards and Orchard in a stubborn stand advanced the score to 73 before Richards departed for 31.
Orchard contributed 22 and there were double figure scores from Kerton (11) Jordon (11), and Parkinson (16 not out) as they injected some urgency into the scoring and Plymstock were able to reach 141-8 in their allotted 46 overs.
Neal Rowlands in his 13 over spell took 3-33, Lammonby 2-32, Jerry Christophers 1-20, and Astley 1-46.
With plenty of overs to reach the target, Chagford started at a frenetic rate despite losing Rowlands (2) and Astley for 14. Gary Sizmur make a quickfire 31 and Lammonby 24 but Mortimore (5) and Gordon-Lennox (7) went quickly. It was left to veterans Tony Niven 33 and Chris Filor 14 to restore a semblance of order to the batting with a stand of 47 for the seventh wicket, and with skipper Jerry Christophers hitting a boundary Chagford secured victory by two wickets to give them 17 points.
The Plymstock pace attack of Jordon 1-46 in seven overs and Kerton 1-27 in 3 overss were expensive, but spinners Orchard 4-47 and Barnicott 2-20 showed much more control.
