Whitchurch Wayfarers v
Cullompton
WHITCHURCH could be forgiven for thinking they were in for a hard time when they visited league favourites, Cullompton on Saturday.
Missing several key players, the writing was on the wall for a long toil in the field as Cullompton set off in pursuit of a large score.
Vaughan (54) and Percy (30) took their side past the 100 mark after just 21 overs.
Whitchurch fought back well, with a fine fielding performance. Mills and Tamblin (3-68) halted the middle order, with MacDougall returning late on to take 2-53, Cullompton closing on 213-8.
In reply, Whitchurch's batting failed them for the second week running, Rae (24) the only early contributor as they slumped to 70-8, due to Mair (4-30) and Ingersent (2-22).
Whitchurch did muster respectability, breaking two league batting records before being bowled out for 158. MacDougall and U16, Hudson (22) put on 42 for the ninth wicket, then Mills (19) put on 46 with MacDougall who finished unbeaten on 51.
This week Whitchurch entertain local rivals Okehampton.

Whitchurch Wayfarers v Luckett
THE nine men of Whitchurch put up a brave fight in this their opening match of the league season. They opted to bat first and made good progress through Tamblin (28), Elliott (22) and Wood (23no) to close on 101-3.
Brown (33) and Roberts (31) set Luckett on their way. 2-20 from Tamblin pegged them back and they needed 6 off the last over. Colwell obliged, seeing his side home to victory by 6 wickets.

Whitchurch v Philanthropists
THE Sunday side again fell agonisingly short of victory this week by 5 runs.
The visitors batted first, Fenn (21) and Jeffrey (30no) the principal scorers as Williams (3-19) and Bright (2-8) restricted them to 98-9.
Sadly,Whitchurch's batting let them down once more. U15 Watson scored a useful 12 as Whitchurch slipped to 42-6. A fine stand between Fields (17)and Tamblin (19) gave Whitchurch hope until both fell to Lockett (2-8). Charlick (2-3) wrapped things up.
This week Whitchurch entertain Cockington.
