AFTER a successful day raising £230 for the Children?s Hospice South West it was a wet journey down to Brixham for the annual 10k race for five members of Bere Alston Trekkers. Fortunately, the storms of the night before ceased for the race and the weather remained dry. The course was mainly flat although there were a few hills leading up to the top of the town which offered views of the sea - for those who had time to look! The remainder of the course was around the main roads and estates of the town and allowed for a flat, fast finish with all Bats finishing under the hour. Laurence Sargeant was in fine form and was the first male home for the Bats; first woman was Dotty Allan. Bats pictured left to right are Simon Griffiths: 51:26; Laurence Sargeant: 46:22; Mary Kelly: 59:52; Dotty Allan: 52.05; Sue Collins: 56.23.
