SIX Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) took part in the Bideford 10K road race last Sunday.  This is a popular run between Bideford and Instow, returning alongside the River Torridge on the Tarka Trail and is known for being a fast race.

First man home was Derek Hicks who beat last year's time to give himself a personal best by two minutes.  Patsy Bennett was the first lady home for the club and knocked eight minutes of her Bere Pen 10 time.

Making her debut for the club and running her first ever race was Ellyn Megicks who ran a great race and finished in under the hour and just in front of her mum Rebecca. Sue Catto ran a great race and achieved a course personal best by five minutes and was just pipped to the post by her husband Alan.

Bats will be running next at the Edinburgh Marathon, Plymouth Half Marathon and the Plym Valley Challenge.
