THE first ever Big Breakfast organised by the Bere Alston Trekkers raised a total of £415 for two charities. The event was held earlier this month to raise funds for Phab Kids and Spinal Research — charities which BATs members are raising money for through efforts at this year's London Marathon. As well as a Big Breakfast customers also enjoyed a locally made cake and had a picture of their choice drawn or painted by young artist George Allan. BATs chair Dotty Allan expressed thanks to the following people for their donations, which made the event possible: Howells of Tavistock, The Edgcumbe Hotel, Tavistock Somerfields, Brooks, J and S Downing, Lesley Friend, Jane's mother for cooking, and all the villagers who made cakes and donated raffle prizes/breakfast items, and to BATs members who cooked, cleaned and served.
