TWO of the teams taking part in last weeks Albaston Relays were Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) and Tavistock Athletics Seniors and despite the heavy rain both teams claimed prizes.
This is a 5 x 2 mile relay. Although the course starts with a 1 mile fast downhill the next half a mile is very steep with a flat finish.
The Bats team, who were running as the 'over active, under achievers' consisted of Chris Baab who really set the pace for the first leg; Chris past to Derek Hicks who past to Dotty Allan passing to Julian Setterington; these three worked really well to keep the pace and position before passing finally to Hallam Burton who worked really hard to keep a great lead.
Special thanks to Cheryl Baab and Jo Bourton who were the Bats support runners.
The Bats team finished in a combined time of 69mins 03secs giving them an average seven minute mile pace and the third team prize.
The Tavistock senior men team ran a great race and finished second overall, first in the open and first in the 40+.
