A 15 hole individual Stableford competition was held in damp conditions on Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club. The winner of division one was Barry Hodges with 35 points; second was Steve Rice with 32 with Paul Rattenbury third on 31. The second division was won by Nick Godfrey with 35 points, second was Russell Dibble on 32 points from Graham Milford also on 32. The third division saw the best score of the day by John Whitehouse with a creditable 38; second was Dave Turner with 36 and third was Steve Browne with 33. Though this has been typical March weather - extremely wet and windy - most of Okehampton Golf Course has been open. On Wednesday, with 15 of the 18 holes open, the ladies played a yellow ball two to count Stableford. This format is a team of three, who take it in turns to play the yellow ball, which scores double the points. If the yellow ball is lost it cannot be substituted, which tends to put quite a strain on the player! However, great fun was had by all and the competition was close. Marcia Jones, Val Dodsworth and Jo Boswell were the winning team with 75 points. In second place were Cherry James, Mary Keir and Eileen Piper on 74 and third were Kath Mansell, Kay King and Pat Kirby with 71.
