THIS week is the last opportunity to hear the current Okehampton College big band in concert. The band will be performing everything from Nina Simone numbers to swing standards like ?Fly me to the Moon? in their concert tomorrow (Friday) at the Octagon Theatre. The concert is to raise funds for the band?s tour to Prague later this summer. And for half of the group?s members, this will be their last performance with the band in Okehampton. Paul Smith, director of the band and head of music at the college, said: ?Sixteen members of the band will be going off to university at the end of this summer or on to other courses, so this is the last time they?ll sound like this.? Tickets for the concert cost just £5, or £3 for concessions, which includes food ? spectators are invited to bring their own bottle.
