STUDENTS from Okehampton College enjoyed a day with some special visitors recently — members of the internationally famous Ballet Rambert contemporary dance company.

Thirty drama students at the college attended the day-long workshop, which was organised by head of drama Sue Hester-Greenhill.

Ms Greenhill said: 'They were absolutely fantastic, it was wonderful to see.

'Being a dancer I have been to a lot of workshops, but this was just superb.'

The students, male and female, learned some of the routines from the dance company's celebrated Ghost Dances — the ballet inspired by the history of the peoples of South America set to haunting folk music.

Philip Herriman, headteacher at Okehampton College, said: 'Ballet Rambert have been doing these workshop sessions around the country — they really were superb and the students really enjoyed it.'
