Tickets for next year's summer ball at Kelly College are selling fast, ten months before the event itself.
The ball traditionally concludes the summer term and this year it was attended by almost 500 guests. This year, the event sold out in January and almost half of the tables for the 2002 event are already spoken for.
The 2002 summer ball will be held on Saturday, June 29. The remaining tables of ten can be booked now at a cost of £400.
The Friends of Kelly Association are also holding a thanksgiving dinner on Friday, November 16, at 7.30pm in the Melvin Hall.
The event will take a similar form to the association's earlier Admiral Kelly's Birthday and Burns Night dinners.
l The new school year at Kelly College will be marked by a coffee morning for the Friends of Kelly Association.
The Cox Tor coffee morning is on the Parade Ground prior to the Cox Tor Walk on Sunday, September 9.
All members of the association will be welcome to join in, and the Friends committee ask anyone who can help provide cakes or biscuits to contact them.
On the following Sunday (September 16), the new all-weather sports pitch at the college will be opened. Refreshments will be served.
The association will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, September 11, at 7pm in the Old Kelleian Room.
All members are invited to attend. The committee for the next year will be elected and the statement of accounts will be received, followed by an open committee meeting.
The association's next major project is to upgrade the lighting in the Melvin Hall.
The association organise a series of events to raises funds to support the college and its activities.
