I AM astounded that Environmental Services at West Devon Borough Council deem it acceptable to collect four green waste bags, but not five.

Even when the neighbours have only one or two, or even no bags out. WDBC's own leaflet 'Your New Recycling and Waste Guide' tells us they will collect 'at least four garden waste bags'. Do they have an understanding of what the phrase 'at least' means? And can the collectors not use their common sense and if a street is virtually empty except the five on our drive, then collect them instead of leaving one standing there? Or are they told by their bosses that it is 'more than their job's worth'?

After waiting 20 minutes on hold and giving up, I finally rang back and was told that in the winter they will collect more. What, when we do less gardening? Bravo!

What an intelligent decision that is, Environmental Services! I now have to add to the pollution and congestion on the roads and take my one bag to the dump. Very Green!
