FOLLOWING on from last week's success at the Devon County Amateur Swimming Association Development Galas, Kelly College attended the final sessions in an enthusiastic and determined frame of mind.
They were rewarded with a further 7 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze and 5 placings. This was complimented with 6 additional awards in the British Age Group Categories (BAGCATS).
Once again Jessica Clear (12 years) had an outstanding day gaining a further 4 gold medals, 50m freestyle (f/c) 32.32, 200m breaststroke (br/st) 3.08.83, 50m br/st 39.74, 400m f/c 5.23.86 and 1 silver 100m Individual Medley (I.M.) 5.23.86, giving her a well deserved gold in the 12 years BAGCATS. Hard on her heels was 10 year old Amy Bayliss, who collected 2 silver medals, 50m f/c 35.38, 50m br/st 47.92 and 5th place in both the 200m br/st and 100m I.M.
These fine performances put Amy in silver position in the 10 year old BAGCATS. Will Cummings (12) swam well to win 2 gold medals in the 200m br/st 3.14.26 and 50m br/st 40.91, plus a silver in the 100m I.M. 1.23.60 and 5th in the 50m f/c. These results put Will 4th in the 12 year old BAGCATS. 10 year old Thomas Worth won gold in the 200m Butterfly (fly) 3.58.26 and bronze in the 200m br/st 3.53.96, placing him in silver position in the BAGCATS. Nathan Probert (12) won silver in the 50m f/c 33.31 and came 6th in the BAGCATS. For the 13 year old boys Kyle Bayliss was placed 4th in both the 50m and 200m br/st which put him in 6th place in the BAGCATS.
Brilliant swims from Genny Greensted, Hattie Hayes, Rebekah Meachin, Phillipa Murphy, Charlotte Spicer, Keziah Woods and Chris Wylie, all of whom gain personal bests, completed a great day for all.
