FIRST Tavistock Kestrels cub pack enjoyed a great weekend on their cub camp recently. They earned two badges — Global Conservation and DIY. Part of this included liaison with B&Q Launceston who sponsor the cub DIY badge. B&Q Launceston kindly offered to come to the camp and help the children to make bird boxes — supplying all the necessary equipment and wood free of charge. Each cub took their own bird box home and made one for Tavistock Den and one for the farm where they stayed. The rest of the weekend included conservation walk, making bunting, setting up a compost bin, the traditional campfire, cooking pizzas on an open fire, a big water fight and lots of fun. Five new cubs and one new leader were also invested during the weekend. Kestrel cubs meet on a Friday in Tavistock at the Den in Pixon Lane.
