COMMUNITY website http://www.thebestof.co.uk/">www.thebestof.co.uk/ okehampton has offered its support to Okehampton?s Farmers? Market. The website provides free publicity for the market by promoting each event, with a different producer profile and special features highlighting additional events such as Apple Day on October 20. Virtually every stall has apple-themed produce with many offering recipes and sample tastings. Westlake Orchards are running a competition to win a bag of apples. Okehampton?s New Carlton Cinema has donated a cinema ticket for two to be won at every market for the next six months. Greg Brown, a partner in The Best of Okehampton, said: ?Our website was started with the express intention of promoting local life and business. The word most appropriate for what we believe in is?relocalisation?. ?It is a bit mad that people think nothing of jumping in a car and driving to Exeter to shop when in all likelihood what they want is available locally. We have put our money where our mouth is by giving our support to the farmers? market ? it is an excellent example of local businesses selling locally, it keeps money within the local economy, and brings extra visitors to the town on market day.? Okehampton Farmers? Market is held every third Saturday of the month at St. James Chapel Square between 9am and 1pm.
