Whitchurch U15s v Yelverton U15s AFTER an enforced layoff due to poor weather and the half term break both teams were looking forward to resuming their respective League commitments. Whitchurch winning the toss, decided to bat in the evening sunshine. After losing three early wickets with just 29 on the board Tom Sherrell joined James Falvey at the crease. These two put on 56 for the fourth wicket before Falvey was caught for an impressive 43. Losing another quick wicket with the score on 98-5 Tom Sherrell was joined by Benn Neal, these two adding 42 before Neal was stumped for 18. Tom Sherrell and Ollie Macrae saw Whitchurch through to 150-6 in 20 overs, with Sherrell finishing on 51 not out, batting superbly. Yelverton started their innings and unluckily lost opener Price for six after playing on. Watkins and Strong then put on 42 for the second wicket giving the visitors a good chance of gaining victory. Tight bowling from Whitchurch through Restall 1-16, Neal 0-15, Falvey 1-12 and Sherrell 2-14 and some great fielding from all the team restricted Yelverton to 89-6 after their twenty overs. As always both teams were a credit to their respective clubs. The match was supported by a large crowd of parents and friends.
