MEMBERS of Tavistock Dartmoor Search and Rescue team were presented with long service awards for their years of dedication. The awards were presented by DRG?s patron, Lord Burnett, to eleven team members for varying lengths of service to the voluntary group. Receiving the ten-year service award were Denise Richards, current controller Bill McOwan, Dominic Guly and Peter Swaine. Fifteen-year service awards went to Paul Hudson, Colin Heard and Chris Dixon. Twenty-year awards went to Alex Lyons, DRG chair Nicki Lyons, Terry Bumford and Bud Francis. Four other team members were due to receive awards for service but were not able to make the evening. These were Rhod Davey, Andy Hodges and Adrian Byrne, all ten-years, and Henry Guly, 15 years. In total the length of service with these members adds up to 235 years. Two other awards were presented. Jamie Reading received the Roy Harris memorial trophy for outstanding contribution to the team, while Nicki Lyons received her 25-year long service award from the mountain rescue council of England and Wales. This was the first time this award was presented to a member of the Tavistock section. Following the presentation at the Tavistock rescue centre, members enjoyed a buffet and drinks.
