A TAVISTOCK company and its sister firm have received a national Gallery of the Year award.
The Tavistock and Totnes Picture Framing Galleries have beaten top London galleries to take the UK Pino Gallery of the Year award and will be rewarded with a visit to an exhibition by the world acclaimed artist Pino in New York.
The Italian artist's rich and vibrant limited edition pictures of romanticised women have risen high in the bestseller list worldwide and his UK agent Sandra Johnson said she had been very impressed by the gallery's presentation of his works.
'They have commissioned exclusive frames from small but high quality moulding manufacturers in Spain and Italy, which superbly complement his pictures,' she said.
As part of their prize Gallery owners Rikki and Martin Hawkins have been given exclusive rights to sell five new Pino prints prior to their official launch in spring 2004.
Mr Hawkins, who runs the Tavistock gallery at Plymouth Road Industrial Estate said: 'We are delighted to have beaten top galleries in the capital for this award and are thrilled to be going to New York.'
