A YOUNG Tavistock man has just been awarded a special certificate in recognition of his voluntary work with the town?s scouting movement.

Stephen Osborne, a Millennium Volunteer, has clocked up 100 hours as an assistant cub leader with the 1st Tavistock Kestrels group.

Millennium Volunteers is a nationwide initiative funded by the Department for Education and Skills and is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 24.

The programme provides access to training and qualifications, links volunteers with relevant opportunities and provides advice and information.

Certificates are awarded when volunteers have completed 100 and 200 hours of voluntary work.
