AN AUTHOR and Friend of Tavistock Library, Patricia Fawcett, was recently invited to give talk as part of a programme of events to promote Tavistock Library.
Patricia, born in Lancashire, moved to Devon in 2004, has published books set in the Westcountry. Her latest book, A Small Fortune, is set amid stunning views overlooking Morecambe Bay. Patricia once lived near the bay, and the sands which are notoriously dangerous, is where at least 21 cockle pickers drowned, cut off by the incoming tide on February 5, 2004.
In her fascinating talk, she went through how she moves from an idea, to developing her characters, and how to let the story's secret unfold between the characters and the audience.
The event was well attended, and book sales were donated to The Friends of Tavistock Library. Recently, the Friends agreed to fund Chloe the Clown as part of the library's programme of children's events.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Friends of Tavistock Library, raising funds to support the work of the library.
The next event is a talk by author Julian Stockwin on October 19 at 7pm.
